The Tarot: A Way of Life
Deepening Your Practice
“That which is above is like that which is below and that which is below is like that which is above, to achieve the wonders of the one thing.” Hermes Trismegistus, from The Emerald Tablets
The Tarot is a tool to help us on our path toward individuation and expanded awareness. It strengthens the link between our conscious and unconscious processes and illuminates those areas of our psyche that are directly unavailable to us. When we view the Major Arcana as universal archetypes that dwell within each of us, the Court family as specific aspects of personality and the Minor Arcana as the processes of expression, we gain a better understanding of the relationships between our inner and outer worlds. We begin to see the Divine mirrored in the Self and the role of the ego in our development. The Tarot is a bridge to our Divine Self, and all of the miracles contained within.
This class is not a beginning level class. You will have much more fun if you have a well-developed relationship with your deck, an ongoing personal Tarot practice (of some sort), and are comfortable with your interpretations of the Tarot. The class is designed to offer you a broader range of tools for your Tarot practice.
Please bring with you your favorite Tarot deck (any deck that is modeled after a classic 78 card Tarot deck. You can apply what you learn to another oracle-type deck after class!); pen and journal; your favorite, go-to reference book; an open mind and a willingness to dive deep.
Topics we will explore:
Your relationship with your deck.
Using your personal practice to apply learning
Using different decks
Relationships between cards in the deck
A review of the elemental and numerical values of the cards
Relationships between cards in a layout – what to look for
The elements of a layout
Relationships between Tarot and Astrology and how to use basic astrology in your interpretations
Energetic flow of the deck and the Path of Individuation
